Leading & Letting Go
Facilitated by Amanda Cantrell Roche
There are times when we need to take direct action and responsibility, and times when we must learn to let go and follow a path that opens before us. In this active, playful workshop you will work with a partner to explore active and passive roles through weight sharing, holding and being held, and leading and following with gentle movement. Individually, you will have time to consider the metaphors for your life and relationships through writing and reflection. No dance experience required, but ability to get up and down from sitting on the floor and to support a portion of the weight of a partner is needed.
Physical contact with a partner is integral to this workshop. Some find it helpful to take this workshop together with a partner or friend, but individual sign ups are welcome and encouraged. Please bring a journal or paper and pen.
“I was surprised at how profoundly I was affected by the time I spent moving around with (my partner). To be held closely and supported gently but firmly was a huge healing for me.” — Sally, past workshop participant
