Ringing True: A Creativity & Insight Salon

led by Thandiwe Shiphrah

This playful journey into the artistic life facilitates the creation of a communal narrative that affirms our creativity and strengthens commitment to authentic expression. Part interactive performance / part writing workshop, Ringing True blends rhythmic poetry and monologue, immersive music and sound into a narrative framework that invites participants to speak their truths and illuminate their personal stories by writing and reciting poems, songs, and journal vignettes generated by the performance and related exercises. The experience is enhanced by nine assemblages that reflect work habits and practices that have fostered the fictional main character’s productivity and artistic unfolding. Ringing True is a dynamic exploration into creative living that reveals the many ways poetry can provide inspiration, boost confidence, and help us deal with rejection, doubts, and fears. Light refreshments and bells provided. No performance or writing experience needed.

Participants will need to bring writing paper and pen/pencil. All other materials provided.
