About the Event
"When you read a poem and listen to it with your inner ear...
your body is the form of that poem — your own body gives it shape." ― Edward Hirsch
Friday, August 25
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Doors open at 6:30Â
Writers of all levels of experience welcome. Listeners and word-lovers, too! Our studio will be filled with artwork, so come early to preview the Open House Art Show.
The line-up for August readers is almost full. Interested writers must contact Kelly Falzone starting August 18th at kellyfalzone@bellsouth.net to get a spot on the list.
August’s special guest writer is Thandiwe Shiphrah -- poet, playwright, songwriter, collage artist, and video storyteller. Her work explores the musicality of language, the dynamics of human relationships, and the joys and challenges of living an examined life. She performs her work in venues around the country and frequently shares the stage with husband and collaborator, musician/composer Daniel Arite. In 2002, Thandiwe created the Line Breaks Literary Reading Series, serving as curator and host almost 20 years. The series lives on at Nashville's Global Education Center and continues to showcase the work of emerging and renowned writers. Find more about Thandiwe at http://www.thandiweshiphrah.com.
$5 suggested donation, Venmo or cash at the door, to support the ongoing Poetry Night programing. Light snacks & beverages provided. (This is an alcohol-free event.)
Although not required, your RSVP helps us plan.
