    You asked for it again, and you got it!  Imagine the wonder of an “artcation” just for you in a community of like-minded artists, where you can broaden your artistic horizons with a four-consecutive-day Deep Dive! Finding yourself in an art rut? Can’t make time at home to really broaden your artistic skills? Want to try something new or finish something you have been working on? This is the workshop for you! Using your own individual style and Lisa Binder’s option-filled facilitation, you can develop and deepen into your own art process. With all kinds of materials included in the price – collage papers, alcohol inks, paint pens, gels and gesso, acrylic paint, Never Dull, GAC 100 and so much more, you can try something you always wanted without the cost outlay of materials. Each day Lisa will engage you in a morning practice designed to loosen up your artmaking. She will also share some of her “art magic” tricks. You will be amazed at what shows up on your canvases or cradle boards when you devote 4 consecutive days to your work.   • Cool Contact Paper Transfers

    Want to learn how to transfer semi-transparent images into your Mixed Media works of art? Have you tried it before but feel you haven’t yet mastered integrating it into your paintings? This is your chance to learn or improve your transfer skills! Using laser jet copies of old photographs, magazine images, previous artwork and more, Lisa will demo a quick and easy technique to add something personal and special to your Mixed Media works of art. Think of all the wonderful art gifts you could make for people with personalized images using photos of grandchildren, ancestors, or landscape you’ve taken on vacations and more. The options are endless. It’s a lot of fun and a great tool to add to your art tool box!  All skill levels welcome. Participants should bring a sack lunch and water bottle, journal or notebook, and wear clothes for movement and mess-making.     This workshop is a brief, experiential introduction to the core practices of Art & Soul Studio, and a great primer class to take if you’re curious about our Creative Arts Discovery and Practice class series. Through intuitive movement, sounding, grounding practices, and playful mark making, you are invited to engage your whole self in the creative process. Whether you have been making art for years or are a first timer; our practices will ground you in authentic art making. Opening, whole body/mind practices are designed to engage the whole self and to bypass the conditioned mind, allowing you to drop into a deeper and perhaps more playful practice, where creativity flows freely.   • Cool Daddy-o! Creative Writing Workshop

    It’s Father’s Day weekend, and what better time to reflect and write about Fathers, Fathering, and Father-ship – the stern, the silly, the surprising, the silent, and the sage. Though a complicated role and relationship, writing can help us gain new insight, work through grief, and celebrate, dig, measure, challenge, and accept. Through prompts and play, memory and invention, teaching artist Kelly Cass Falzone will guide students to explore both what they hold dear and what might be hidden in the dark. All types of writing invited – poetry, prose, script, lyrics, fiction, and creative non-fiction – and sharing and feedback are offered and encouraged at each student’s comfort level. Fatherhood NOT a prerequisite. All genders and all levels of writers welcome. Friday night’s session will set the stage, allow us to meet one another, and start writing; Saturday provides time for deeper writing and reflection, and some opportunity and advice for revision and expansion. Participants will leave with lots of newly generated fodder, and a few new writerly friends!   • Follow the Flow—Water Media Adventures

    “Be like water.” ~ Bruce Lee Explore the possibilities of painting with water media! Join Elizabeth Sanford—watercolorist, paper artist, and trusted guide—as you play with a variety of fluid paints and paper surfaces. During weekly demonstrations, students will experiment with watercolors, acrylic inks, fluid acrylics, gouache, and more within a supportive and encouraging circle. A mix of instruction and intuition will help you create unique layered textures and luminous hues using a variety of tools and methods. Ways to incorporate line work with pens, pastels, colored pencils, and/or resists will also be covered. All levels are welcome. NOTE: During the first class, we’ll discuss the suggested supply list while actively experimenting with a variety of furnished materials. Subsequent demonstrations will be tailored to the participants’ specific interests. Supplies needed will vary depending on each student’s interests, with options to fit a variety of budgets. The class fee covers all supplies for the first class session and the weekly demos. If desired, students may expand their options by using a range of surfaces, such as cold press and hot press paper, Claybord, or Yupo. In this class, after a quick review of line and shading, we’ll try out pastels, colored pencils, and ink pencils.     Join our Creative Arts class, where we explore the practices of movement, sounding, meditation, poetry, and diving deep into the world of creativity. We will work and play to discover new paths. As we grow and expand our artistic horizons, we practice showing up and moving forward.
