  • Mask Making

Explore body empowerment through art with teaching artists Robin Wolfenden and Jen Wilkins. We will create a spiritual, tactile, and visual plaster cast of a part of your body. Whether your intention is to honor your hands, feet, torso, or head, we will guide you to the sacred space of healing through the arts. "Body Empowerment is the process of taking charge of your body and mind, embracing your unique features, and finding ways to amplify your strengths. Body empowerment is not about conforming to societal standards of beauty but rather about accepting and loving yourself for who you are. It is a journey that requires patience, self-discipline, and self-love.” – FemiLead.com In this 2-part workshop, you will work with a partner in a trusting, safe environment, first with a guided meditation to determine where we will be placing our energies. Then your partner will assist you in applying layers of Plaster Craft onto your body according to your choice. In return, you will assist your partner. Your plaster cast will need a week to dry completely. During that time, you can gather ideas on how you wish to embellish your plaster cast in your own unique way. In the second half of the workshop, you will honor your sacred mask by adding paint, collage, artifacts, or whatever you wish. We will end by witnessing a play piece that you create to show your journey. Be prepared to get messy! If you choose to create a face mask, your hair will be protected with saran wrap, and your face will be covered with Vaseline jelly so the plaster masks slips off easily. We can clean you up with baby wipes! Skill Level: none Pre-requisites: none Materials that teacher will provide, for which reimbursement is needed: plaster cast, Saran Wrap, Vaseline, baby wipes Materials Students will be required to gather/bring for themselves: for the second day, materials that they want to use to enhance their masks *** Fee: $225 (Members 15% discount with coupon code at checkout) If the class is full but you would like to be added to the waitlist, please email registration@artandsoulnashville.com. Masks are not required in the studio, but please feel free to wear one. If you are vulnerable, let us know so we can provide a safe, masked space for you. If you’re ill, please cancel and help us keep everyone healthy. Any questions, contact info@artandsoulnashville.com.
