Art and Soul is founded on core principles that value the art process over the product. If you’re looking for a way to kick-start or sustain your creative life—whether you’ve been making art for years or are a first-timer—our practices will ground you in authentic art making and engage your whole self in the creative process. The Creative Arts Discovery Practice class, or CADP, cultivates a judgment-free attitude, which will help you nurture your own authentic creativity as you explore practices like play, movement, and sound—practices that will allow you to bypass the conditioned mind and drop into a deeper place where you can discover your own innate mark-making. This weekend course of core practices and creative exercises mirrors our foundational 6-week series and fulfills the requirement for joining Art & Soul as a member. Even so, we encourage members and non-members alike to take CADP multiple times in order to develop creative habits and set renewed intentions for continuing a creative life. Attendance for the entire weekend is REQUIRED. Wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty, and bring lunch each day. Art & Soul classes are for ages 17 and up. If you would like to request an exception, please contact the studio to see if the teacher can make accommodations for younger participants. Masks are not required in the studio, but please feel free to wear one. If you are vulnerable, let us know so we can provide a safe, masked space for you.
